Guest guest
Hi Sara, I wasn't advised one way or the other by my OS or ortho. It was 6 months since I had last had a cleaning, so I was due anyway. I had my teeth cleaned two days prior to my sx. I had the surgery hooks put on the day before. I was really happy I had them cleaned. Jane makes a good point about how well you are able to open your mouth afterwards. I'm guessing it's going to be a while before I can handle " open wider " from the hygienist now that I've had the surgery! And, as much as you brush and clean, the first few days are particularly hard to get your teeth cleaned... hard to even get in there at all. If I already had whatever junk stuck to my teeth before hand, it would only make everything stuck on them after surgery worse. I was glad they were clean going in to surgery. They get dirty afterwards. Might as well start out clean instead of starting out already dirty. Anyway, that's my opinion!! Good luck!
