I weighed 121 going in am 5'4 and on day 9 I had lost 12 pounds. The

first week I paniced but my husband informed me it is mostly water

weight. Since then I've lost a couple more. I am on day 13 now.

Keep hydrated because you do loose a lot of water. Drink your

protein shakes too because you don't want to loose muscle mass. I

know I have and feel so lithargic. But I think when I can suck from

a straw that will all change.

I am two days out of surgery and have not weighed myself yet. Anyway,

I am an " ambitious " 5'6 " :) and weighed 105 to begin with. I TRIED to

gain weight for 6 weeks but couldn't! I wasn't ultra aggressive, but

basically any whim for any totally fattening tasty food I had, I gave

in to whole heartedly... after all it was going to be a while before

I could eat it again. I'm talking pizza, a bag of potato chips and

container of french onion dip in a day, a whole batch of cookies or

brownies in a matter of days.... along with eating all the time all

day long on healthy stuff too, on carbs, red meat, you name it. SO!

You can try to gain some weight for a buffer but I hope you have

better luck than I had. I did fast from milk shakes though since I

plan on having one of those a day now!! :) I have a splint in and

will be banded in about 5-7 days. I had upper with palatal split,

lower advancement, and genio. I am worried myself for how much weight

I will lose. My skinny pants are too big already! If only I could

chose from where on my body all the weight went (butt & thighs) Good

luck!! Katja

From 1996-1999 I had 2 eating disorders (bulimia and anorexia

nervosa) and weighed 99 - 105 pounds, so weight loss is an issue for

me. I weighed 118 when my original surgery was scheduled. I knew

that I had to gain weight before surgery since I would lose 10% of my

body weight, so I gained 17 pounds before my surgery was all of a

sudden postponed for a year. I maintained the added weight even

though I hated being a size 9/10 instead of 5/6, especially since my

favorite ideal size has always been 3/4. When my surgery finally

took place I weighed 130, but all of a sudden weighed 137 when I

returned from the hospital (water/IV weight gain - swollen hands,

feet, etc.) I was down to 122 in 2 weeks, but I have leveled out at

120 at 5.5 weeks. My pants are baggy and I can see my bones again, so

I'm glad that my weight loss has stopped. I lost the weight from all

over; arms, stomach, back, hips, legs, and butt.
