Guest guest
Hey guys, I'm 9 weeks post-op from lower jaw surgery, it was pushed back about 10mm. I've noticed that one side of my face is more swollen than the other. Is this common? I'm a little bit worried. Jo
Guest guest
I don't know that it's exactly common, but it's not unusual. And most times, it's just that they did more work on one side than on the other, or did something a bit different. I can think of two things you need to be watching out for. One is any sign of an infection -- if it is hot, or you have a fever, or you see anything resembling pus. The other is the possibility of a screw or plate working loose (or getting infected). If you've called your surgeon's attention to it, or called his office about it, it's probably nothing. But if it bothers you or hurts in any way, let them know.
