All I can say is Vanilla ice cream with lots of milk blended kept me

alive! I would add cherry juice sometimes!

I just had my sugery 4 days ago. Upper (3 piece) and genioplasty.

I would have to say the worst part about it for me is the liquid

diet. I don't have any pain, thanks to Percocet. I don't have any

complications, knock on wood. I seriously thought post-surgery

would be the death of me, but then again it's case by case, and day

by day. The only thing bothering me now is my swelling, and from

what I heard, that goes away :) From my experience, at first it

feels like it was a bad mistake, but as the swelling is going down,

and everything is starting to fall into place. I would do it again

in a heart beat. Don't worry you'll be coming out of surgery a

better person.

I would recommend taking a few hours to read through a lot of the posts

on this message board. A lot of people posted their day-to-day

experience post-surgery and it helps in giving you an idea of what to

expect. Also, if you go to the files section there are a number of

really useful documents to prepare you for surgery including what to

have on hand post-surgery and yummy recipes for a soft food diet. Above

all I would say stay positive and focus on your end goal. You might

want to also ask your doctor whether you should take some iron tablets

before the operation. My doctor is prescribing them to me for a whole

month before surgery to help my blood clot more easily post-surgery and

therefore facilitate recovery. You're young and therefore have an

advantage in that your body will be able to heal itself a lot more

quickly than someone who is older.

Good luck and stay positive!
