Hi Diane,

Thankfully, it's never too late to fix something that your unhappy

with. One of the staff members at the orthodontists office told me

they have a patient in their 80s!!

And in today's age 40 is considered young.

As for my own treatment, I have to get SARPE done over the summer to

widen my upper jaw. It will be quite interesting to see how this plays

out as I have never had major surgery in my life except when I was an

infant and of course I can't remember that!

I'm 21 years old and I know that I'm going to feel really weird going

back to college next fall looking like I got knocked out, with a huge

gap in my front teeth. Hopefully the ortho will not make me suffer too

much embarassment for an extended period of time.

6 weeks after surgery I'm told that I would then get my top braces put

on, with lower jaw surgery occurring the following year.

As for the oral surgeon you go to, he doesn't seem too confident about

whether your insurance will pay for it. Mine on the other hand is

overconfident that I will get covered, so I don't know which doc is

better to have!! I am lucky though because his office is handling the

whole thing for me. My precert forms have been sent to Blue Cross and

at this point I'm just waiting to hear back from them.
