Just joined today...on day 6 of the diet

Just wanted to say hello. I had my first bout of ulcerative colitis at the age

of 13. It went undiagnosed until I was 18. At that time the GI pressed me to

have my colon removed. I declined. That was 21 years ago. I have gone for

extended periods without any meds...4-5 years at a time.

I had a colonoscopy in November of 2009 and it showed no visual signs of

colitis. All the biopsies came back 100% normal too. Then about 6 weeks later I

started on a pretty nasty flair.

I am allergic to sulfa meds and all mesalamine drugs make matters worse. I have

prednisone sitting on the counter but I am not going to take it. That leaves me

starting the SCD diet.

I notice a decent improvement in just 6 days and am looking forward to further

improvements as time goes by.

I'm the father of 7 kids ranging in age from 13 to 2 and I am a business owner.

So my life is always somewhat chaotic. I would appreciate your encouragement and

success stories. I'm sure it will help me as I proceed with this regimen.
