Guest guest
Wow! Sounds like me. I'm a year and a half out from surgery and have lost 70 pounds. I started at 260 then gained 12 in the hospital and right now fluctuate between 202 and 204 (I actually hit 199.5 for one day, but it must have been a fluke). I don't think I was by-passed enough. I never ate large amounts to begin with. I also wish I had known at the time the difference between distal and proximal (was not informed and didn't know enough then to ask). I believe my pouch and my stoma are fine (maybe a little too fine sometimes), but I too believe that I should have been by-passed more. I feel like I've gone through so much for so little. Also I've had tremendous pain for the last month. Had a CT scan today and an upper GI scheduled for Aug. 4th, but, of course, you don't know anything until you see the surgeon. Now, how do you get a surgeon to do a revision and get the insurance to pay for it. My surgeon will never admit that he might have been too conservative or made a mistake. He has placed all blame of me not losing on me for not doing what I'm suppose to. Not true! Just curious. Guest guest
Tigger, Same with me. So I have contacted 2 other surgeons. I will have a scope & consult with Doc Oh on Aug 8 & not sure if I'll make an appt with the other surgeon. As I have said previously, I have no regrets as far as the fact that I am healthier, more mobile, etc. But I just knew something was wrong & blamed myself far too long. I am so glad recommended that I join this group. It is the discussions here that got me to thinking and asking the right questions. Like Tigger, I didn't know enough pre surgery to ask about distal vs proximals, stoma sizes, & vertical vs horizontal pouches. I had done tons & tons of research, too. Too bad some docs take it personally when you try to find out if there is a problem. It is NOT about them - it is OUR bodies - IT IS ABOUT US!!!!
