Splint removal time question

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew why some of us keep our splints

longer than others.

Initially, I thought it was relative to the amount of " work " I had

done. But considering some of you are having it removed after a

whole 8 weeks, I'm confused.

Out of the 1000+ upper and lower jaw surgeries my OS has performed,

my upper jaw apparently went through the 2nd largest widening of

them all. I believe my lower jaw is in a similar boat. Yet I'm

having my splint removed only 4 weeks post-op, even with a history

of relapse with braces. Apparently the norm is 2 weeks!

How long have you guys kept your splint, and has your OS ever told

you why he/she wanted to keep it in longer? I'm so worried about

relapse!
