Guest guest
Hello, after lurking for a long time I would like to finally introduce us. My name is and my daughter Pia, who is 16 months old, has bilateral clubfeet. After 4 months of conventional treatment (plastercasts) that would have lead to surgery we changed the treatment method, since then we are true " Ponseti-believers " . In Germany, most doctors still do surgery on clubfeet. In 2002 one doctor introduced the Ponseti-Method to Germany and began treating clubfeet using the method. He did this against all kinds of resistance, but only slowly other docs are catching on. One year later, another hospital began treating children with this method, after the leading othopeadist learned of the method at some congress in New York. He retired since then, but one of his colleages is in charge of the clubfeet in that hospital and has also visited Dr. Ponseti... Its slow going in Germany, but there are more and more doctors. There are also two websites about clubfeet, one favors the surgical method, the other is more neutral an in direction Ponseti-Method. Since there were so many fights in the last time about what method is better, does the brace hamper the kids in their development and so on, I decided to build a new website. This one is supposed to be about the Ponseti-Method alone. Now I have a question: I am looking for a curriculum vitae of Dr. Ponseti. I found something about him on the UofIowa-website and the Essay that was postet here. But I am also interested in the time before he came to the US and the time in between then and now - I know that he was very active also in the treatment of scoliosis. I would be very thankful for some information. If you all have questions concerning the treatment in Germany, I am happy to answer them! Thank you!
