Guest guest
Last night I had ham and corn on the cob for dinner. I didn't eat that much of the corn and when I went to bed I still felt fine so I figured it was OK. Around midnight I woke up with bad lower stomach pains. By 2 am the pain was so bad that I couldn't stand straight and I was having dry heaves. I spent about an hour on the toilet trying to get some relief. I chewed on some tums and was finally able to have a BM. I was so scared as the pain was really intense. At that time I wasn't thinking straight and all I could think of was a bowel obstruction or my intestines kinking. I never thought something I ate could make me feel so bad. I finally laid back down in bed around 3 am and decided to rest for a bit and see. I was going to wake my DH up to take me to the ER, but I was so tired I just wanted to rest. I must have fallen asleep after a while because I woke at 5 am and was feeling better. The pain wasn't completely gone, but it was a lot better. I got up for work and by the time I got there at 6 am, I was sore but not having the pain. I finally accepted that corn and me do not get along and I will have to wait a long time before I try it again. I love corn, but not enough to go through that pain again. Today I was craving a Big Mac and decided to get one. I knew I could never eat the whole thing, but after 2 bites I was full. I made sure I ate a good, protien-filled dinner. I have also switched to eating scrambled eggs for breakfast. They make them at work it is really nice to be able to buy a single scrambled egg. I am so thankful for the cafeteria at work. I can buy some things by weight and they even make protein shakes. Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 213 pre-op 166 today
