Guest guest
Several people were concerned about the glutamine in Peptizyde causing adverse reactions with their kids. In response to this, here is a recent announcement saying Peptizyde no longer contains the L- glutamine. The " space " is filled in part with even more DPP IV, the enzyme which breaks down casein. Kd. ----------------------- Peptizyde now contains only proteolytic enzymes and rice bran. The 50 mg of glutamine was removed because 1) many complained that their children were sensitive to glutamine 2)If one wants glutamine, it can be added to the diet in much larger quantities by separate supplementation. In addition, the peptidase content was increased from 50,000 HUT to 62,500 HUT. HNI does not plan on carrying Peptizyde with and without glutamine. Glutamine is known for it's gut-healing properties, but this occurs with dosing of over 1000 mg per day, so the 50 mg of glutamine per capsule in Peptizyde was probably of little benefit at that dosage. However, glutamine is an excitatory amino acid, and can be converted to glutamate in the body under certain conditions. This may explain some of the instances of hyperactivity noted with Peptizyde. The primary benefit of Peptizyde is due to the specific combination of the three proteases therein, and their activity is not dependent upon the presence of glutamine. --Devin Houston, Ph.D.
