Need help with destuctive behaivor

Hi,

My son Nicky has been GF/CF for several months and has improved

drastically. He went from virtually never making eye contact, no

words, and very selective hearing to always responding to his name and

saying ~ 50 single words. We are very thankful for the improvement but

are at wits end to stop his destructive tendencies. He breaks

something daily (glass, vase, flower pot, etc). We have tried timeouts

and smacking his hand to no avail. He will pick up something and throw

it on the floor, as we yell 'NO'; which we are quite sure he

understands.

Any suggestions? There aren't too many things in the house still

standing
