Iron & Male vs. Female

I got my iron test results and in 45 days, my ferritin has risen from

5 to 15! Wahoo!! My hemoglobin and hermatocrit was just barely in

the normal range but that is better than being in the low range. I

knew over the past 2 weeks I had gone from a sleeping zombie to

feeling like a semi-human again. I am doing a tablespoon twice daily

of the liquid Niferex in combination with 500 mg of chewable vitamin

C. I don't have caffeine within an hour on the front or back of the

iron either. I have really been working to be compliant with this

routine because I was absolutely miserable. I know this may not work

for everyone because there are still some folks that can't absorb

iron hardly at all but in case someone was in the shape I was in and

is trying to figure out what to do, I thought I would put this out

there. I have always learned and benefitted so much from all of the

info I get from you guys I thought I would reciprocate.

I know some of you have male Dr's that you are fond of and my

bariatric surgeon was actually a male. He is one of the kindest and

caring men I have ever met. I feel blessed to have had him because

he is so talented and caring. However, I have had many many more

poor experiences with men than women and it is my preference to have

a female. My arrogant male PCP and I had a conversation about this

one time and he acknowledged that men don't have as good of

a " bedside manner " as women do and that was why he hoped more women

became Dr's. I have seen a lot of research surrounding heart

disease, gynecological problems, etc. indicating that males have a

higher tendency to brush off women's complaints thinking they are

just being dramatic or hysterical when in actuality, they were

legitimate issues. I also want to say I like men, in fact, I like

them a lot :-) I just prefer a female Dr.
