Guest guest
Okay, I am now at 15 months post-op. I have lost a total of 108.75 lbs. Gra= nted I did lose 15 pre-op (which brings the total to 123.75), but that is it. My= first 12 months I didn't even reach 100 total. I have hemmed and hawed about this and accepted for the longest time that I= was just a slow loser. The most I ever lost after week 6 weeks out was 10 l= bs in one month. In that month I didn't use protein drinks, so the theory of u= sing protein to lose more doesn't apply to me, apparently. The last couple of months I have been bouncing up and down and losing the same 5 lbs. • No, I do not eat carbs, if I do, I eat very little. • I am transected. • No milk, no sugar, no fruit. • I take 2-4 shakes per day (averaging mostly 3 per day,) with water, virgi= n, nothing added. • I have 1/2 Detour or 1/2 Trioplex bar some days, not everyday. When I do = I don't eat at the same time. • I exercise occasionally, more now than months ago when I was still losing= .. • I have been on plateaus almost every month. I started this journey 2 1/2 months pre-op at 313 and now am at 189.25, at = 5' 2 " that is still fat! I am still 61 lbs from my goal and at least 25 from = my surgeon's goal. Before you ask, no, I do not use the same surgeon who did m= y surgery for very personal reasons. I was hoping to lose at least 120 lbs + pre-op loss for a total of 135 lbs = by this point. I am now left with a personal decision -- do I stick it out to 24 mo= nths out and see how far I get and pray I don't start gaining despite being largely = compliant? --or-- do I start looking into getting a revision? I have though= t for months that I may have needed one due to the fact that my surgeon possibly = didn't bypass enough. That's my story, and I guess I'm done whining. Advice, please? If you didn'= t notice I am a little bummed. M
Guest guest
Hey , Whine away, we're all entitled once in a while! Grrl, you have done GREAT so far... I know it's hard not to, but try not to beat yourself up. Give yourself a break and a pat on the back for getting so far! Remember the days when you never thought you'd be the weight/size you are now? You are WAY more compliant with food than I am, yeesh. I need to get back on track food-wise myself! I have to say... I think exercise is going to get you the farthest at this point. You did say you exercise occasionally and more than you have in the past. Try to work in exercise in your life 5x a week. Cardio for 30-45 minutes will really kick your weight loss back in gear. Just start out with a goal of one day a week, then the next week, make it two. If you do one, then you reached your goal, if you do two, you've surpassed it, etc. Baby steps! I know it's a drag getting started, I've had to kick myself back into gear a couple of times in the last two years... but once you get into the " habit " you will probably notice that you feel really good after each workout session... once you start feeling that, throw in some basic weightlifting. There's nothing like weights to remind your body to lose the fat, not the muscle and to ramp up your metabolism. The key is finding something you enjoy. Biking, walking blah blah blah. We've all heard the drill I found that having a partner really helped keep me motivated in the beginning. If nothing else I knew that if I wasn't up at 5:30am when my partner stopped by to pick me up to go to the gym, he'd be royally pissed. That alone helped me get out of bed those first few weeks! Now he's the slacker and I'm the one getting pissed, hee. Anyway.. take it easy on yourself. You have lost a tremendous amount of weight in very little time, it's way too early to start thinking revision! http://www.eradain.com/apoplexy I want to whine.....
