I am currently taking classes towards my degree in Nutrition (to specialize in

Bariatrics) and we just learned about this.

Guarana (guaranine) is an herbal form of caffeine. " Caffeine is the #1

psychoactive drug. It is a central nervous system, heart, and respiratory

system stimulant. It can alter blood sugar release, cause nervousness,

insomnia, irregular heartbeat, noises in the ears. It has been linked to

spontaneous panic attacks in persons sensitive to caffeine and has been found to

be addictive (DUH). It also causes increases in calcium excretion. "

As for Willow Bark Extract, all I can find is Willow Leaf Extract, " which has

been used for pain-relieving and fever-lowering. The extract of willows contain

silicylic acid, a close cousin of aspirin. "

(I have the documentation to back this information up if you'd like to email me

privately for it.)

I hope this information helps you.

>> Then there is the Willow Bark Extract. I don't know about this one. It

supposedly works similarly to aspirin, which we aren't supposed to take.

But is it the same as aspirin, or not?

*** Willow bark is what original aspirin was made from, and contains the

same acid as modern aspirin. I would pass on this one, pouch-wise.

>> How about Guarana Extract.

I know I've seen this is a lot of " natural " diet remedies, but I'm not sure

what it does. Any time I see and herb that claims to boost metabolism,

that's a red flag to me that it might also raise blood pressure or otherwise

tinker with my ticker, and I don't play with those unless I know from

medical professionals that they are all right. A certified herbalist could

tell you the properties of these herbs, but not necessarily if they are

safe. You might try calling a naturopath.
