Guest guest
Annie My B12 level when I was first tested as deficient was 192. My neurologist caught this, not my primary physician or gastroenterologist. He checks my levels annually. Normal B12 levels are considered to be 500 to 1000, but the range may vary slightly depending on the lab. Thanks to monthly injections I can keep my B12 levels around 500. My levels didn't budge when I tried oral doses at first, so I switched to serum injections. My body works better for the first 2 weeks after the shot, then I start having problems. I can always tell when it's time for another injection. Last year I tried once going back to oral doses of B12, but my levels dropped somewhat dramatically over the 3 months I went without the shots. I'd hoped my digestion was working better, but it didn't, so I'm assuming my body doesn't produce the intrinsic factor any longer. Kim M.
