Why are the messages so wide?

Hello everyone! I am enjoying reading the many posts but I was wondering why they appear on the screen to be twice as wide as usual. I have a wide screen, but not that wide! For each line I read, I have to scroll quite a ways to read the remainder of the line. Then I have to scroll all the way to the left to see the beginning of the next line. Is this happening to anyone else, or is it just me?
