Guest guest
Today I found out that the surgery I will need is a LeForte I. This is to correct an open bite. They will not need to break the lower jaw. The doctor I met with is a top plastic surgeon in New York (Dr. Thorne). However, when I asked how many surgeries he performs per year, similar to my case, he replied about half-a- dozen. I asked the OS and he said he is confident working with this doctor and this type of surgery is pretty basic. Responses from those that have experience with a LeForte I is appreciated. How was your experience? And in general, should I consider working with an oral surgeon instead? Also, the OS said I will wear a splint for 8 weeks and may not need to be wired shut.
