Guest guest
Hello All, For any interested here is a quick update. I had upper/lower done back in Aug '03 to correct under/cross bite. I had many of the same post surgery symptoms the most memorable ones being swelling/oily skin and severe burning sensation in lips/chin. To all those going through this...it all does get better....but it really did take a year to really be " healed " . I do have lingering altered sensation in lower lip/chin which I am " used " to by now but still hope to improve over time. I love my teeth/bite and do not regret decision to do it. Now, question.....as result of rotating my lower jaw, one side is more predominate than other. I have discussed having implant done with oral surgeon to " even " things out. He said I have two options...I could by an implant " off the rack " or have one custom made if I wanted both sides to be exactly symmetrical (which nobody is anyways). Cost difference is around $2,000. I read in previous email someone else was considering/going through this also. Can you give me any other info? If you have already done this can you give me a run down on your experience and results? Thanks, Carol P.S. Oh, FYI, I had my surgery done in UNC and doctor was Blakey...do recommend.
