Guest guest
Tammy, There was a thread about this a few weeks ago, so you can search for it. However, the scientific term for blockages is " Obstruction " and that was what was used in the last thread. Intestinal obstructions can occur in either the alimentary (food carrying) limb or the billio (bile carrying) limb. Obstruction in the alimentary limb usually result in vomiting, abdominal pain, and a lack of bowel movements. Obstruction in the billo limb will not result in vomiting or lack of bowel movements, but will result in abdominal pain. Typically only 1% of BPD/DS patients get a bowel obstruction. However, if not treated promptly, a bowel obstruction may be fatal! I am not a doctor, so this is only what I have read. If you need more specific advice on this, please talk to your surgeon!
