Guest guest
You are a very loving cousin. I make " rice crispie treats " for my girls. I use " safe " marshmellows, magerine and any " legal " cereal. The fruity & coco pebbles cereals work really well. When I use coco pebbles I add peanut butter to the marshmellows as they are melting. My girls are 2.5 yrs old & LOVE these. We used to eat graham crackers as our " staple " snack in the van. They were easy & not too messy. I have replaced that with Qaker brand mini apple & cinnamon rice cakes. My girls love them. I put them in cleaned yogart cups so they can have numerous at a time and I don't have to keep throwing more back to them while I am driving. Godd luck. Continue to post your questions here. This is a wonderful group of loving parents of autistic kids who are very helpful to each other. Guest guest
I hope you mean the Malt O Meal brand cereal & not the Post brand Cocoa Pebbles. Those are not OK.
Guest guest
My children avoid almost all of the things you mention here. I use primarily Ener-G rice bread and Shelton's hot dogs and bologna frozen from my health food store. I have a few recipes for the things you indicate. Also, you can buy Piknik potato sticks at a regular grocery store which are " safe " per your list here. There are also pre-made baking mixes which my children can use. I use Arrowhead Mills Wheat Free All-Purpose Baking Mix that I buy at my health food store, and I make a few modifications to other gfcf recipes. Here is my site link for on-line foods and recipes, for your information. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/parentin.htm#onlinefood Here is my site link for gfcf school lunch ideas. You can look here and decide which of these easy ideas might be appropriate for your cousin. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/lunch.htm Good luck. > My, cousins 4yr is autistic. she will be starting the diet, however > her diet seems to be a little more intense than what i have reading > about. they have to remove her from wheat, gluten, corn, casein, soy, > eggs, citrus, sugar, preservatives, dyes and nuts. this is to be done > cold turkey. her current diet consists of sandwich meat, cheese, > potato chips, french fries, yogurt, peanut butter, cookies, icepops. > I often help with the caretake of the child. i have also offered to > bake, cook and whatever else i can do to help them get thru this > stage of the game. thath is what brought me here. we are looking for > any suggestions on homemade snack foods such as potato chips and > cookies. thanks in advance.
