Guest guest
Has anyone been treated here by Dr. Otsuka? He was recommended by a Ponseti certified doctor at the Shriners in Sacramento. Dr. Otsuka said 6-8 casts which are changed every two weeks instead of one. When I emailed Dr. Ponseti, he said 3-4 casts should do it. I suppose a couple of extra casts and weeks woulnd't hurt.... Any opinions? Thanks! (mom to -J'nee, bcf, 4-wks-old)
Guest guest
, Did he tell you why he changes the casts every 2 weeks instead of weekly? This is a pretty big deviation from the standard of changing the cast every 5-7 days. Did you meet with Dr. Otsuka yet, or did you just talk to him/her on the phone? Did you ask the questions about the success rates and bracing protocols? There's a parents' checklist at this site: http://members.tripod.com/ponseti_links-ivil Personally, I'd be leary about the 2 week change interval unless it's just a scheduling thing like he's not at the Shriner's every week or something. Hope this helps! & (3-16-00, left clubfoot) > > Has anyone been treated here by Dr. Otsuka? He was recommended by a > Ponseti certified doctor at the Shriners in Sacramento.
