Guest guest
Hi all, I am one who lurks a lot and only engages with questions about problems, etc as I gather information and do my research. My status is that I had my consult with Rabkin, and now just awaiting submission to the insurance. But status or problems is not why I am writing this note. As DS starts to look like something I've accepted and decided to do, I have all those fears about going under the knife, to be under anesthesia, of all the surgical complications. But as my digest mail piles up and I read all your notes, you have given me the courage to see just what this life-saving surgery means, and I too, can successfully reach the " other " side. This one's for you, fellow DSers.... ~~~~~~~Everyday you Remind Me ~~~~~~~~~~ Everyday you remind me of the freedom that awaits. Everyday you remind of the simple things you can do How you can tie your shoe, or run with your children, or fit into a size ... Or that you're now living the life you longed for forever... (Could this really happen??) Everyday you remind me Not to feel guilty, selfish or crazy for " doing this to my body " Even in my darkest hour of pros and cons analysis... Everyday you remind me of the health reasons for DS And how your diabetes, your legs, your tests are all Changing for the better Everyday you remind me of your courage As I read about your recoveries And how you cope with and manage the side effects And that you are so happy you would do it all again.... Everyday you remind me of the facts and figures That, God willing will eventually reach the ears of doctors and insurances that will support me In case I have to fight. (I have not heard yet). Everyday you remind me to be grateful, And you give my cyber hugs and cradle the idea, That just within my grasp, is a life I have long forever for And a life I deserve to have. Last but not least. Everyday you remind me of how common interests, Common caring, common love Can change lives ... Not just on this DS list, but in the world Let us not forget that one act of compassion ripples out And we all have more affect than we know Everyday you remind me of the freedom that awaits.
