My Mom spend the night. She wanted to make sure she was awake by 4:30 am. We had to leave at 5:00 am to be at Kaiser in Richmond by 7:00am. > Needless to say: no one went to sleep. > We were at Kaiser at 6:00 am. > > At 7:00am A nurse called me into a room, where he gave me two IV's, a shot in the stomach, (so I wouldn't get blood clots.) (a medicine called carafate, which coats the stomach. catheter, shot in the arm, Oxygen in my nose and leg warmers to keep the blood flowing. > > At 7:30 am, The anthesioigist and my surgeon talked to me. At 7:50 am. They wheeled me in to the operating room. > It was a big surgery room with big equipment. There was the anthesioigist and two nurses. > As I was laying there, looking around. I thought, what am I doing? Do I really want to do this? > " NO " , forget it. I was about to say it, to the nurse, that I changed my mind. The next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. " To late " > > I woke up with alot of pain. After 3 hours in recovery, they wheeled me to my room, where my Mom and Vince were waiting for me. > They asked how I was feeling? I said, alot of pain in my stomach. > The surgeon did Laparoscopic. Which is better then opened. > All I wanted was more pain medicine and to sleep. I didn't want to feel the pain. > > At 4:00 pm. The nurse, took my catheter out. They want you to go pee on your own. > The IV is 1 qt. sugar water. The IV lasted for one and half hour. So I had to pee alot. > Every time, I had to pee. The nurse would have to un plug my IV lines, my leg warmers and oxygen. I would have to pee in a plastic lid. That measures your pee. You couldn't go home, until you can pee on your own. > Being the great pee-er that I am. I did just fine. (my room mate couldn't pee and they had to put the catheter back in her.) > > There was no rest in the hospital, the nurse came in every two hours to check your blood pressure, heart rate and temperature. > I also had to get out of bed every four hours to walk. > > Dinner was delicious: Sugar free: Jello, pudding, tea, soup. I didn't want any of it. I just kept on sucking on ice chips. > > The next morning my doctor came in and looked at my insect ions. And said they look fine, I'm peeing good. And drinking my water. " Do you want to go home " ? > I only wanted to go home, so they would take the two IV's out. > > The bumps on the road hurt my stomach. But the hour ride home was fine. > > The first three days were the worst. The stomach pain was bad. > On the fourth day, I was feeling fine. > > I'am walking around the house, drinking my water and crystal light, eating very little. > The hardest thing for me is chewing the vitamins. They don't taste that good. I have a call into the doctor right now. To see what other ones, I can try. > > My Mom, stayed with me, when Vince was at work. > It has been one week and 4 days since my surgery and I'm doing very well. > > If you have any questions.
