Hi! This is the first time I have posted here though I have visited

your site for 2 years. I had a rny on Feb 27, 2002. I have lost 137

pounds so far and I am still going. I seem to have sped up my weight

loss rate again which is kinda cool. I just have some odd problems.

I have had my period every 2 weeks....full 5 day cycles for the past

4 months. I am on orthcyclene birth control pills that I take

religiously. I am 32 and have been on the pill for 12 years and

never even had spotting. My doctor is freaked, but I think it is

just major hormone changes due to the weight loss. What do you think?

I had an iron deficiency problem that showed up pre op. I cannot

tolerate oral iron. 8 months post op in december when my iron

dropped to 46 and my ferritin to 6 I had a 3 hour iron infusion at

the cancer hospital. This raised my iron to about 100 and my

ferritin to 250. As of yesterday my iron was 42 and my ferritin was

160. I can understand that my iron would drop since my periods are

so frequent, but my hematocrit is normal. Any ideas how to get it

up? I just don't seem to absorb it. I am very tired.

Also, I am absolutely emergengently thirsty constantly. I drink

close to a gallon of water and milk....okay and 2 cups of coffee per

day. The thirst issue is unbelievable. I can't even communicate how

horrible it is. I can drink a liter of water in 40 minutes and have

no relief. I am not diabetic. Any ideas?

Otherwise I am great. I walk everywhere...I started bike riding 5

months ago which I haven't done in 20 years. I am smaller now than I

was as a freshman in highschool. My back problems are for the most

part resolved and I no longer have sleep apnea. This is the best

thing I have ever done for myself.

I would appreciate any help and advice you ladies and gentlemen can

give me. My doctor is relatively confused about the whole process.

Thanks,

Eileen
