Guest guest
..... > I've also wondered about the apple pectin, garlic, cilantro, Vit. C, etc. > alternatives to DMSA, which really scares me.... " Apple pectin is used to chelate aluminum, vit.C to support chelation. I was scared of DMSA, too, until I read more. The old reports of problems seem to be related to rapid IV detox. My son & I have handled DMSA just fine, sometimes a little space on day 4 (we do 3 days on, 11 days off). Also, parents need to adjust the schedule to suit their particular child. Some dose every 12 hours, every 8 hours, or every 4 hours. Some kids initially regress as the mercury and other metals are chelated from the tissue. Others don't (mine didn't.) The majority of DAN doctors and D-I-Y parents follow a " low (dose) and slow (3 on, 11 off, long term) " approach with few side effects (usally minor, like day 4 spaciness or sniffles). IMHO chelation deserves a closer look by all parents of ASD kids. Some of us are seeing amazing & rapid results. Feel free to email privately if you have any questions. BTW, despite 12 months of chelation & great results, we're still strictly gfcf. Our protocol looks at 18 - 24 mos to clear the body.
