Guest guest
hi it's me again, i had all 4 bicuspids taken out before surgery, dr. sachs did it himself inthe office. i was left w/ huge spaces for a few months until the ortho closed up the bottem spaces and he closed the top during surgery. it is easier to have them taken out during surgery cuz you really will not have to deal w/ the space sin he will be closing it during surgery. he was going to take out my wisdom teeth too but for some reson decided not too. any way i saw him today and he was very nice, sensitive, and told me how concerned he was for what i had to go through and did let me know that it was not normal. i posted some other tips take a look if you get a chance good luck amy Sara wrote: Hi there, In addition to having upper jaw surgery I'm also having two wisdom teeth and two bicuspids removed. Has any one else had this too? Specifically I'm wondering about the biscuspids. As far as I understand, where they remove these two teeth is where they will be making the incisions into the jaw. My ortho explained to me that the surgeon will try to close the gap as much as possible to fill the space that is left from the removed bicuspids. But he also told me that there will still be a gap left that he will then have to close with braces. But then there's another BUT, chances are that I will always have a little gap left so I will need bonding. What I want to know is if A) anyone has had their bicuspids removed during surgery and if so, how BIG a gap is it after surgery and B)did you eventually have to get bonding done once you removed your braces? I know this is no biggie in the grand scale of things but I'm quite worried about walking around with a big gap on either side of my mouth this summer. I'm also looking at my bicuspids every day now and thinking, poor fellas, they never did any one any harm. I am going to miss having them:-( Any shared experiences will be greatly appreciated.
