Guest guest
There's a consultant who comes into our office to help us out with computer problems from time to time (he's a retired IBM genious). He's 70 and just got his braces off! When I complain about being 40 and brushing my teeth next to these pre-teens, he says try being 70. I really admire him in so many ways. Thanks for the tip on the wine. The OD adjusted my braces to try and move my top mid-line to the left (OUCH). In addition to my teeth being very sore, the roof of my mouth is very tender. Good luck next week with your appointment. Diane _____ From: gadgetgirl1957 Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 9:28 PM To: orthognathicsurgerysupport Subject: Age & Braces Don't tell me about age... Yikes I'm 47! Maybe my Fosomax will be a good thing! Besides Advil... I recomend wine, for medicinal purposes of course. I find if I just hold the wine in my mouth for a bit... It seems to numb the pain from having my braces adjusted. :-) Good luck to everyone. I'm looking forward to my surgery. I will have another appt a week from today to get the newest update on my future plans for surgery. Thanks for everything! Guest guest
Steph~ Glad to see some other '40 something' folks on this group. I am 43 and feel like the old lady of the group. Seems to be mostly teens and some people in their 20's. I just got my braces last month and hope to have my surgery next spring. Best wishes~ > > Don't tell me about age... Yikes I'm 47! Guest guest
I think there's more of us then we realize :) I'm 42 and have had braces for appr 1.5 years. I should have my surgery this summer or fall,,, or possibly winter. How's that for definitive? I think the braces make us look or give the perception of us being younger too. Everyone is shocked when they find out my age - most believe I'm in my late 20's to early 30's, so I'm liking them (the braces that is)

Guest guest
absolutely! i can vouch for that as i am engaged to a wine producer whose family has been drinking a glass a day for years and they are some of the healthiest people i know around. the important thing is not to overdo it and, if you have ceramic white braces then ur banned from red wine :-( > > > > > > Don't tell me about age... Guest guest
Children, children... You are mere spring chicks! I had the braces installed in 2001, at the ripe old age of 55. Was almost 57 when I had the surgery. My ortho told me that he had performed surgery on at least one patient older than I was -- 62 at the time of her op. Cammie > > > > Don't tell me about age...
