Guest guest
Hi, Today has been a very painful one for me. I had an orthodontist appointment yesterday. And now I'm really wondering about having surgery. To top it off, I called my oral surgeon today to see about getting this done in June. I was told " he no longer does orthognathic surgeries " . When I called my orthodontist's office, they were unaware of this issue. Boy do I feel left hanging in the wind. I've been spending hours on-line looking at pictures of people who have had orthognathic surgery. Most of it is encouraging, in that 99% of the people were really glad they had it done. I'm amazed at the difference the surgery made. I have a long face, gummy smile and a receding chin. I've had braces for 11.5 months. The progress has been amazing. Getting cold feet about seeing this through. Maybe it's because I'm really unsure about what exactly will happen. The top jaw issue is new. I just don't know. And I'm not used to being so indecisive. Or not in control. GRRR - is all this 'normal'? I just wanted my teeth fixed. I've hated my smile since I was 7. 40 years is a long time to be embaressed ashamed and hiding. For all of you who have done this... is this something you went through? How did you make your decision? Thank you! Steph
