Guest guest
Hi. I am a newbie so I'll give a quick intro. My name is Kaci, my son was born Dec 17 with bcf. He is currently on his 3rd set of casts and our dr told us he will need 2-3 more after these are removed. We recently received a letter that the blood sample submitted for the newborn screening tests was not correct and they were unable to perform the tests so the bloodwork needs to be repeated. My pediatrician told me that they can only get the needed amount of blood from his heel. He gave us 2 options - we can go in to his office the day before 's next casting and they will remove the casts and do the bloodwork, or we can see if there is someone at the ortho office who can do the bloodwork. I have a call in to to the ortho office to find out what they want to do but my question is, is it ok to remove the casts the day before he gets new ones? I have read of different people soaking the casts off the night before, and I have read in other places that the casts should not stay off overnight because of regression. What are your experiences? Thanks, Kaci
