Guest guest
I also asked my surgeon about the 2mm tolerance that Zulu mentioned and he confirmed that it is indeed true, or rather, it can happen. Basically he explained to me that when you're mapping out a surgery on paper and on a mold model you can be super precise but then when you're working on a real live person there is a chance that you can't get something to exact .5mm position you had it in your paper model. This makes sense to me, I mean if you're working with bone and flesh there's only so much you can manipulate. Of course he assured me that all doctors always do their utmost best to be as precise as possible. I have great faith in him and I'm sure everyone else's doctors are equally as good. And to be honest, I've been living with a 7mm open bite for a while now and a 2mm canted bite. The 2mm canted bite was never obvious to me until my surgeon pointed it out to me so I guess that if I end up with a 2mm asymmetry I'll still be ok:-) Sara > > > I had lower jaw advancement on May 5 2004 – exactly one year ago. > > > > > > My feelings are mixed about the surgery.
