Guest guest
i had my surgery for a prodruding jaw on dec 20th 2004. the surgery corrected a 5 mm underbite. by now, the vast majority of swelling is gone, but i still think even after almost 4 months my face is still not completely adjusted and there is some more swelling left. is it possible that even after this long my facial muscles arent fully adjusted? my surgeon told me before that my lower lip would look a bit too thick for a while because the muscles were adapted to the jaw sticking out. i still think it is too thick, and the chin and lower lip have an altered sensation. no one else really notices, but i do. if anyone has had this type of surgery (ie underbite surgery) and knows any facts about the swelling, stiffness, altered sensation, and muscle readjustment, i would greatly appreciate any sort of feedback. ps. I am more than willing to answer any questions anyone might have regarding this surgery. And a note to anyone in fear; it's not as horrible as it seems like it should be. Sure its very aggravating for a short while, but once things start to settle in, you will be very satisfied with the new orientation of your jaws, especially if it was causing you problems.
