Hi Darlene,

I always toast my pecans (plus a few walnuts) in a skillet over

low heat for a few minutes. The nuts release their oils more easily that way

and are easier to grind into nut butter. A suggestion I read about from another

list member says to add a little walnut oil to the pecans when grinding. I

haven’t tried that yet. I just add a few walnuts to the mix.

I’m not familiar with the Omega juicer so can’t comment. You’ll

have to experiment!

I have an Omega juicer which makes nut butter. I've never

tried this before and want to make pecan butter. Do I just throw in the

pecans raw or bake them first? Will I need to put them in the blender as

does and add oil?

I don't have an Omega but from what I've read you don't need to add

oil to make nut butter, because it's pretty strong and tough! I think

it's a question of leaving it run long enough to get smooth (where with a

blender apparently running too long with something heavy like nuts can

burn it out).
