Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for your kind message. Actually, the twins have never been in the care of anyone except the parents. They work different schedules from each other, so one of them is always home with the twins. However, I think it has been a lot for them to do, and it is hard for the parents to get the rest they need a lot of the time because at least one twin will be awake. The twins were delivered at 30 weeks, and the parents had to make daily trips to the hospital for weeks. a few months after coming home, the twins were back for hernia surgeries, and just when they seem to be settling into a sleep pattern, one of them had a urinary tract infection which reached his blood, and he had to be hospitalized. So they were all going back and forth to the hospital again, while still working full time, with their different schedules! They said that ever since then, the boys have not been sleeping well, and besides that, they are both teething now. I know that the parents really like the swing they use for the twins, and the twins each have their own little fabric recliners, which I think they spend a lot of time in. I understand all this, because of the few hours they have with them, and realize they are probably all tired. Besides that, the ped kept saying, their heads will round out! Just before I left for a two week vacation, my son said that the ped had said she thought the twins should probably be in the helmets, and when I got back to the U.S., my son told me the ped had said she thought it was probably too late! My daughter-in-law was viewing this as a cosmetic treatment, and really didn't want to put the twins through more medial procedures, which I understand. So back to the internet I went and found more info, plus I talked with the parents again. Now they have a referral, and I am waiting to hear when they are going and what the assessment is. I really appreciate this support group and have been reading the messages regarding treatment for the 8 month old babies. It is very encouraging. Thanks to all of you! With both parents working full time, the twins in daycare I assume. So there care taker could be making the problem worse by keeping the baby boys in swings ect. I know this sounds incredibly brazen, but maybe you should make them an appointment for an evaluation and offer to take them yourself or print off the severity assessment off the cranial technologies website and go over it with your son and the babies. With both parents working they probably don't want to deal it and want to believe the doctor who says it will self correct or it will be fine when they get hair. Either way I think you are a great grandma and advocate, we support you.Mom to Elijah Doc Band Grad 8/11/
