Guest guest
Ok, I know that I'm weird, but I LOVE rice cakes. And the real ones - plain old rice cakes, not the popcorn ones with cheese on top. I eat them plain sometimes, but usually top them with stuff - cottage cheese & spices; cream cheese, lox & red onion; I even made a toasted one once with tomato sauce & cheese (like a pizza) - didn't work too well, lol. My Mom (also a WLS post-op) toasts them, then spreads on PB and s/f Jelly. I don't like them with sweet stuff for some reason though, so I never do that. The mustard & meat sounds good, I'll have to try it. I've always loved the rice cakes though. When they came out years ago, everyone thought I was nuts because I ate them all the time. When I was on Weight Watchers it was great because they were one of the " good value " foods for the points. lol. For me, they take care of the chips & dip type craving when I want the carb crunch with the creamy stuff on top. I don't follow low carb like many people, but I know that " munch " carbs (crackers, chips, pretzels, etc.) are trigger foods for me and can lead to a binge pretty easily, so I try to keep rice cakes around instead of the other stuff. I like Sue's answer though, they're not cake. lol. I suppose you could frost them and write something on them. I never bother with the cake part anyway - I go straight for the frosting! ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.com™ http://www.5dollarhosting.com <http://www.5dollarhosting.com/> (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! ® Re: Digest Number 2313 I know they can taste a bit like styrofoam (oh yummie) but what is everyone's opinion about rice cakes? Each brand seems to vary for calories and carbs though -the one I bought made by Quaker goes like this: cal-35 each fat-0 sodium-0 (plain variety) carbs-7 g protein-1 I like little peanut butter or mustard and some meat or sometimes when I just have to, some margarine. Its easier for me to be accountable with these. The chips and crackers get out of control way faster.
