Guest guest
Sue: Wish my surgeon would have had a post-op patient in his office speaking with the pre-ops. The woman in his office who you had to go through for scheduling appts, surgery, etc. was so thin, she looked anorexic. We got along fine though, but did not understand what we were going through and one day she just blurted out to me after she got off an exasperating phone call with a nervous patient, " these people have been fat their entire adulthood, can't they just wait another few weeks with patience? " . I just shrugged my shoulders and left soon after. Your patients are lucky to have you. Keep supporting them and educating them. They need someone who has " been there " to guide them. I did much research prior to the surgery partly because I wanted to and partly because I wasn't getting any answers to my questions from the surgeons office. When I had my revision, all they told me was it had to be done and to sign this consent form stating that there is relatively not much known about revisions and that there is a very real possibility that I could lose my spleen, more of my stomach or intestines or death could occur. I know the death thing is pretty standard stuff, but it was disconcerting signing a consent where they were basically saying they didn't know what the hell they were doing or what to expect. I was flabbergasted at this, but needed the surgery, I was so sick and bleeding internally. So I guess all this crap I'm going through now is cake compared to what may have occurred. : ) Keep up the good work. Regina
