Guest guest
Hey all! My friend had a very scary experience tonight. She's 3 yrs post op. She ate one small sized ice cream bar, had a fight with her son, and ate another small sized ice cream bar. 10 minutes after the 2cd ice cream, her lips swelled up, then her face, then she started to itch like crazy, her entire body turned red and her feet swelled up. Her throat got scratchy and started to swell. And she was throwing up. YIKES!!! Talk about scary. She's OK now but she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. She was treated with IV's and the symptoms subsided. Question has anyone ever had this experience or knows of any post op patient that has had such a severe reaction? The ER doctors don't feel this could be related to being a Post OP but my friend can't help but wonder if maybe it has to do with the way her " plumbing " works now. She's experienced dumping syndrome before but nothing like this. I guess this is a hell of a cure to keep her from ever eating ice cream again. Any feedback would be appreciated.
