OT: fried green peas legal?

I have a question for the wisdom of this crowd regarding fried green peas.

Anybody know why they might be illegal?

I found this particular treat and the label reads like it might be legal: green

peas, oil and salt. I would write the manufacturer, but they were made somewhere

on the other side of the world and sold by a USA packager and I didn't have much

hope of getting an answer.

To clarify these fried green peas remind me of plain corn nuts. If you've had

them in the past, just substitute peas for corn and you get the idea.
