Guest guest
Just thought I would pass this little tidbit on. My nonverbal 6 yr old Pdd son has had severe problems with constipation for 4 years. We have tried many things in this time and the only results we have seen is with half a ducolax suppository every other night. This is what his GI doctor recommended. We have been cf for 3.5 years and GF for 1.5. Anyway, I am meticulous about his diet and I am always cooking for him. I call every company before introducing anything. Since his GI doctor put him on it and is aware of his numerous allergies and knows he is GFCF, I didn't question him after he told me it was ok, especially after reading the label and inserts myself. Today I finally got around to calling the manufacturer since he has been manic after receiving the suppository, but I figured heck, he was clogged up and now he is a happy camper. Anyway, I asked what could be in it that was causing this reaction and the girl said, " He isn't by chance allergic to gluten, is he? " Evidently they mix gluten into the oil that is in the suppository. They said they are not required to put it on the label. I screamed at her, then called the GI and informed them to be more careful when prescribing something. I am most mad at myself for being dumb enough to listen to anyone else and not calling. While I spent half my life in the kitchen cooking for him, I spent the other half in the bathroom with him undoing all my hard work and poisoning my child. Feeling horrible tonight, Phyllis K.
