Guest guest
Steve, I am 3 months 1 week post-op and I only have 1 bowel movement a day, hardly any gas (unless I drink soda, then watch out). It's really different for everyone, I think I'm very lucky. When I asked the Doc why I was only having one BM a day, he said " Are you complaining? " He also said that as they do more and more DS surgeries they are continually cutting down on these side effects. Overall, I'd rather poop alot then deal with dumping and only three bites at a time for the rest of my life. It's a hard decision, and one each of us has to make on our own. However, this list is slightly prejudice and I think everyone will say - DS all the way! Guest guest
Hi Steve - Most of the problems you mention are experienced by relatively early post-ops. I am just over four weeks post op and I have 2-3 BMs between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. I have minimal gas, perhaps even less than pre-op. I only have diarrhea if I eat something with too much fat or something with lactose. The texture is not the same as pre-op but who cares. It is really no big deal. Everyone has different experiences. Perhaps that is because everyone isn't as careful to keep fats and dairy out of their system for the first few months.
