Guest guest
Some of you may remember that I posted about my hernia from hell, " Jr. " Two weeks ago I had a CT scan and the results are not that great. My hernia is huge (described by one doc as jumbo, industrial sized) with small bowel and small bowel mesentary (sp?) involvement. I'd had the results sent to my GYN (the ordering physician) and my PCP. Both called me immediately after seeing the results and told me to get to a surgeon ASAP. I'd already taken the precaution of making an appointment for evaluation, thinking that I'd rather see him on a non-emergency basis to make sure he got the diagram of the DS and understood how it worked. (Didn't want him " fixing " anything he shouldn't!) We think that maybe the hernia worsened after I fell last month. I landed flat on my back but apparently the impact caused a worsening rupture. There also appears to be some slight damage to the spleen, there's some fluid around that area. So, I'm scheduled for a ventral hernia repair next Wednesday, October 3rd. Dr. Kim (and many others) have pointed out that most hernia repairs wait until most of the weight loss is over, so that maybe the panniculectomy can be done at the same time. As several of my coworkers have stated (all of them WLS post-ops, 1 post DS, 8 post RNY's) this is a waste of a good hernia. It's just too soon in my weight loss to do any reconstructive surgeries. But they don't have to live with the severe, continual pain that I have. I'd appreciate any prayers you can send my way.
