Hi there, i agree it is different for each person, some have it

before their operation, some after.

I had an expander fitted in Feburary, it was a full plastic sheild

that was glued into the top of my mouth. I turned it twice a day

for a week, went back to OS and was doing well. They sent me home

still turning it twice a day for another week (well my partner had

to do it for me as i couldn't have done it myself!) and to go back

and see them a week after. After the two weeks i had the 9mm gap

they wanted. I was told to go back again but in two weeks time,

but no more turning, so the teeth can settle and they can see if its

enough or not. Those two weeks later they took it out, so all in

all minewas only for a month. Saying that I have not heard of

anyone elsehaving one that is like a mouth guard (normally just fix

to the brace)...could have been a heavy duty one?!! I was also very

determined to get it over with so although painful to turn i did

exactly what they said and turned it twice a day for the full two

weeks. It has already made a diffence to my face and is really

worth it, it is fuller and looks much better, still yet to have my

operation!
