You want to know something really weird?

I went to a support wls group meeting where a chiropractor was the

presenter. He said when people who are severly obese lose weight,

the bones at the joints will actually " float " . Knees and elbows will

bend backwards or buckle. That's because there was so much pressure

from the weight on the joints that the ligaments and bones actually

grind away. When a great deal of weight is lost and the pressure on

the joints is relieved, the joints decompress, but the ligament which

holds it together is shot.

This happens in VERY obese people.

BTW, we former fattys did build up bone when we were heavy, but when

we lose weight, depending on how much we do weight bearing exercise,

up to 30% of the weight loss is actual bone loss. We are at higher

risk for osteo than normies. That's why it is so important to take

the Calcium with D and to at least walk or do some other weight

bearing exercise daily. It is the ONLY way to preserve bone mass and

insure the majority of your weight loss is fat.

Vicki A.
