Has anyone explored herbal remedies of gas, etc. with their surgeon? I

plan to talk to the surgeon about the following:

There are several that assist in gas relief and other ailments.

**Anise helps expel gas, promotes digestion and relieves nausea and

abdominal pain

Crush seeds into a powder and mix 1 tsp into 1 cup boiling water and drink 3

times a day.

**Fennel used as a digestive aid that can relieve cramps and gas. Mix 10 to

20 drops in water. Use warm water and a tsp of honey for a soothing daily

drink

**Chives are good for digestion and helps prevent anemia caused by iron

deficiency.

Eaten fresh

**Catnip helps promote relaxation, eases indigestion and gas and helps

control diarrhea.

1 - 3 capsules a day or 1 tsp in 1/2 c. water and drink as a tea.

**Buckthorn (Cascara Sagrada) relieves constipation overnight and has been

used for gallstones and liver ailments. 1 - 3 capsules daily.

**Caraway helps expel gas and reduces nausea by chewing the seeds 3 to 4

times a day.

**Basil reduces stomach cramps and nausea, relieves gas, promotes normal

bowel function and aids in digestion. Mix 1 tsp. of dried herbs in 1.2 c.

hot water, strain and drink as tea 1 to 2 cups as needed daily.

These are but a few that I have found.

Has anyone else taken an herbal approach to relieving some of the problems

experienced as a result of this surgery?

Thanks,

ICE
