Before I began my iron infusions, I was taking 450mg (150mg three times per

day) of the Niferex. Didn't do me much good as I still ended up needing the

infusions though. I know that iron can be toxic in large doses, but if

we're not absorbing it, how toxic can it be for us? That was a question,

not rhetorical.

doctor's visit/iron

Went to see my WLS surgeon for the 5-year check-up. He's retiring, so I may

not see him again. It was kinda' emotional.

He prescribed 2 ferro sequels per day, which is 50mg iron as ferrous

fumarate. I told him I already had Niferex, which is 150mg iron as

something else, and he said, fine, take two of those. I warned him they

were 150mg each and he said, well, you need lots of iron right now. I also

mentioned the chelated iron to him, and he said he didn't think it was as

good for us for some reason which eludes me now and I didn't understand

then. I'll ask again if I get a chance.

I have an email into him about the difference between 100mg a day and 300mg

a day. Anyone think 300mg of iron is too much? Basically, I think he knows

I'll only absorb a certain amount and he wants to see what happens in the

next 30 days or so.
