Guest guest
where do you get Penzey spices? Are there any other spices that are legal? Hi, If you can raise 7 kids, you can do this!! I've been on SCD for about 10 months after a diagnosis of "mild UC" last spring. Starting SCD was a bit daunting at first, but you do get used to it. Thankfully I feel so much better now. I am so grateful for the support on this board and for this diet. I found the stages on pecanbread.com helpful. Note that the advice is for children with ASD so it is non dairy- and we do not have to do that- we can eat SCD yogurt and legal cheese if tolerated. There is a file posted under our board files here on starting SCD that is helpful. Does your wife cook? You both do not need to change all the family meals. I have learned to fix an SCD legal main course, legal veggies, and then add a non legal side dish for the rest of the family.I do cook more for myself, but I can also do it while I fix meals for my family. I needed to invest in a few items for my kitchen- a yogurt maker (I bought 2 ) and some legal Penzeys's spices, and some others. It's a change at first but you get used to it. Post your questions here, and best wishes. PJ > > Just wanted to say hello. I had my first bout of ulcerative colitis at the age of 13. It went undiagnosed until I was 18. At that time the GI pressed me to have my colon removed. I declined. That was 21 years ago. I have gone for extended periods without any meds...4-5 years at a time. > > I had a colonoscopy in November of 2009 and it showed no visual signs of colitis. I have prednisone sitting on the counter but I am not going to take it. That leaves me starting the SCD diet. > > I notice a decent improvement in just 6 days and am looking forward to further improvements as time goes by. > > I'm the father of 7 kids ranging in age from 13 to 2 and I am a business owner. I'm sure it will help me as I proceed with this regimen. > > Thanks >
Guest guest
After about 2 years of SCD, I am going to start experimenting with some spices. I miss Mexican food sooooo much and I am hoping I can tolerate spicy food again. In the spirit of experimentation, does anybody have any recommendation for legal Penzey's spices that they love or can't live without? They don't have to be Mexican spices, anything delicious! Thanks! Dawn

I don't use their spice mixes, myself, though, even the ones which appear to be legal. However, my sister and my niece have, and like some of the ones which do not have sugar or other illegals in them. Penzey's spices are very high quality, and I prefer them to just about any others. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
I seemed almost that big. Well, like a grocery bag, anyhow. Lol! I bet! Bay leaves weigh nothing! I can just see the UPS guy with a trash bag sized sack of bay leaves flung over his shoulder knocking on your door with a strange look on his face...
