post op bite question...please help

Hi, my name is Tanner and I recently received a lower orthognathic

surgery which moved my jaw 5mm to the left. I was wired shut for a

week afterwards. I am now in a splint. After eating my second meal my

teeth no longer are going into the splint and look almost like they

did before the surgery. What is going on? Why do they not go back

into the splint properly. My doc says not to be worried and that the

elastics will further align everything as it should be. Help is much

appreciated. Thanx:)
