Guest guest
The tests run should include a EEG--brain wave study. An MRI or CT of the brain with and without contrast. An EMG-- muscle reaction test. A Spinal Tap-- for inflammation markers in the spinal fluid. The other is Neuropsych testing. This is where you get to do the wonderful 8 page Question/Answer on are you really depressed, and they ask that question over and over on all 8 pages. If you weren't depressed before you started this form, you will be by the time you finish it. Neuropsych testing includes short-term memory recall, where they read you a list of words, and you are supposed to tell them what they said-- over and over. It also should include spacial puzzles-- geometric shapes that have to be put together to make something. They also give you a kids tool bench-- and the wrong tools to build it-- to see if you can problem solve. Each of these tests requires a specific part of the brain to function to complete the challenge-- and for those of us that don't show granulomas in our brains-- (most of us don't) it can confirm that something-- probably vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels) that can impair the results. Guest guest
I often feel like an idiot. The inflammation around the lesions caused me two small strokes. My problem: I don't know when I'm being stupid. I often feel like people are looking at me askance, you know, as if I've just said something totally ridiculous. How do you know when you are losing brain function, and how quickly will it occur? Any advice?melanieTo: neurosarcoidosis Sent: Fri, February 26, 2010 1:35:34 AMSubject: Tests for encephalopathy The tests run should include a EEG--brain wave study. Guest guest
, It's not like I lose it, it's more like, If I'm tired it's worse, so for me at the end of the day is always worse. When I try to hard, like talk fast, which I use to do, that doesn't go over very well either. So it comes and goes, not just goes and it's gone, although I fear that could happen, but hasn't yet. I find I am having more trouble typing. I use to type really good, now I really have to think about what keys I'm hitting, before I hit them, does that make sense. I try to reread my emails before I send them out, as I found I either left out a word here and there, or just put a word that doesn't make any sense. But for me there are good days and bad, and a lot of that depends on how much sleep I got. When I'm tired I sound like an idiot for sure. So hang in there. my medication sure does make a difference too. Marla I often feel like an idiot. The inflammation around the lesions caused me two small strokes.
