Hi Fran,

Sorry for the late reply, I had lower jaw surgery and coping really

well. I think if you get yourself well prepared and know what lies

ahead it much easier.

I going to see my OS on Tuesday and hopefully he will advise my next

step. At the moment i can only drink fluids like hot chocolate (my

favorite).

I must say also that my biggest worry that I had was when I woke

from surgery but I had no pain at all. They didnt but on the bands

either until the next day.

When is your surgery and is it upper or lower, Please if you have

any questions I will be happy to let you know my own experience so

far.

.

Hi ,

I am in the extremely early stages of this. I have had three

consults with OD's and had my first orthognathic surgeon consult on

April 14th. I am having upper and lower. The surgeon (Dr West in

Seattle) sent a beautiful letter to my insurance, and I am waiting

for a written preauthorization letter now. I do not have braces

yet.

After my surgery, I will have braces, then will need crowns on all

my front teeth to lengthen them enough to maintain the new volume in

my mouth (I have a very deep bite, an overbite and an asymetrical

jaw). I am sure I will have questions for everyone soon. I have

never had braces before, and am actually nervous about them! I am

51 years old, so I think that has something to do with it! lol

You sound like you are doing great. I am really excited to see how

you progress in your recovery.
