I had a Laforte 3 and lower advancement 5mm done on Feb 2. I have

been a " lurker " on this site for a while and decided to post.

I am in alot of pain....apparently my nerves were very well

protected. I tried to come off the percoset on Sunday and that ended

up being a dumb idea...I had to spend most of Monday getting the pain

back under control. Anyone have any suggestions on when it will stop

hurting? Feels like razor blades in my face.

My swelling has really gone down around the lower jawline but i'm

still looking like a monkey around my sinus area. My bruising

disappeared rather quickly but I used Arnica gel and I think it

helped. Post-op my lips were a mess. The were at least four times

the normal size and streched all over my face. I haven't had to be

wired or banded but I have this splint in my mouth wired to my

braces. My bite did turn out perfect although I have noticed that

nose is a little off to the left. I brought that to my surgeons

attention and said he could fix it if it is still apparent after the

swelling goes down.

I had my surgery done at Madigan Army Medical Center at Ft

Washington. My husband is Retired Army and I am an Army Reservist so

I was very fortunate not to have to worry about all the insurance

issues that I hear everyone being troubled with. The surgeons there

are wonderful and very attentative. They call and check on me

occassionally and schedule to see me weekly. I was in the hospital

for 3 days. It was frustrating to push for a nurse and have them

come over the speaker and ask me to repeat myself.....geeze all I

wanted was some ICE....

Thank you to everyone for your input. This site was very helpful to

me pre-op and post-op.
